Visit from Dr Burnand
Dr Burnand is the Master of Scholars at Abingdon. He came to inform us and answer any queries we had ahead of our Scholarship exams. It was very advantageous in preparing us, specifically for the General Paper. He emphasised that the most important areas were clarity and accuracy: which means having a clear argument and not making frivolous errors. He also navigated through the general paper questions and structure. He gave us a thorough trek through the murky forest of the general paper and cleaned it up for us so that by the end the general paper was shining in the sunlight. We had in depth advice for each question from a real specialist in general papers and after we had gone through it we had some time to ask the questions we had. We now feel much more knowing and confident coming into our scholarship, thank you Dr Burnand for the helpful talk.
