Visitors from Eton and Winchester College
Last week 7J enjoyed a fascinating English lesson with Dr Tom Day, Master of English at Eton College. The boys fused poetry and cinema in an engaging and imaginative lesson, writing their own poems and studying Jonathan Edwards' villanelle, 'The Death of Doc Emmett Brown in Back to the Future'. Many thanks to Dr Day for a fantastic morning.
Year 5 were treated to a workshop with Dr Elizabeth Mackintosh from Winchester College. Elizabeth is the lead educator and partnership manager for Catalyst by Winchester College. The session was entitled ‘Tools for Thinking’ and at a time when critical thinking is under threat, the tools of philosophy are ever more important and pupils spent some time sharpening their tools for thinking!
