From Boisterous Play to Imaginative Play in the Early Years
As last term drew to a close, Moulsford hosted a very successful Nursery & Pre-School Heads’ Conference, the fourth annual event of its kind. Designed as an opportunity for learning from and networking with fellow Heads and Nursery Managers in the region, it also provided a really fun and supportive morning with much laughter, for all attendees who work in the Early Years community, including our Moulsford EY team.
Our guest speaker was Ben Kingston-Hughes, from Inspired Children who entertained and informed in equal measure while delivering his workshop ‘From Boisterous Play to Imaginative Play in the Early Years’. The group explored how rough and tumble play can be enjoyed by both boys and girls without tears, and discussed how unforgettable imaginative play can be nurtured and encouraged in Early Years settings. Parents may be interested in Ben Kingston-Hughes’ new book ‘A Very Unusual Journey into Play’.
Alongside 20 representatives from 10 other local guest Nursery and Pre-School settings, the Moulsford Early Years staff enjoyed a fascinating morning discussing and exploring the theme. It included some highly entertaining team games including chariot-building and racing. Take a look on the Moulsford Instagram page @moulsford to watch Mrs McKenzie emerge unscathed from a race in a cardboard box on wheels!
We thoroughly enjoyed hosting our Early Years colleagues from across the region and look forward to planning next year’s event.
