Mr Men and Imaginary Lands
Year 1 had a magical and enchanting time on their visit to The Oxford Story Museum on Thursday.
They started their visit by exploring the galleries, including the Whispering Wood, where every tree has a tale to tell. Travelling next to The Treasure Chamber, they discovered stories about mythical dragons. Finally, they wandered between the shelves of the Enchanted Library, stepping into the imaginary lands of Narnia, Winne the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland.
James, our guide, then gathered the children together to read the infamous story of Mr Bump. In groups the children then worked collaboratively to create their own story around a Mr Man character who had bumped his or her head and had become their opposite in character. The session culminated in each group excitedly retelling their story to the others.
