Creating a legacy

Year 4 visited a Rewilding Project in Newnham Hill this week to be involved in a tree planting scheme, helping to bring wildlife and biodiversity back to an area of the Oxfordshire Countryside. The project also ties in well with their Summer Term Humanities topic “The Future of our Planet”.

The boys worked alongside volunteers from the Chiltern Rangers to plant hedgerows and trees. The Chiltern Rangers described the Year 4s as a ‘whirlwind of fun and enthusiasm’ and Mrs Aithal who lives on the farm explained how the boys had all found their perfect roles, with some happy tucking in the plants, others were organising teams of mulchers, some were happy staking the whips whilst others were doing a great job putting the little greenhouses on the saplings to protect them from the deer and rabbits. She said that their work had helped to create a huge nature corridor between two pieces of woodland and described it as their legacy to the world.

Thank you Year 4! You worked hard and it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces.
