Rollercoasters and Robotics

The topic running across much of the Year 5 curriculum this term has been ‘Lego’. Therefore, it was only right that the pupils had the opportunity to engage with the subject in a fun and interactive way by visiting Legoland.

As well as enjoying the park's attractions, the pupils participated in two exciting workshops. The first was "Roller Coasters", where they investigated how forces such as gravity, friction, and weight impact the speed and distance of roller coasters. Working in groups, they designed and built their own LEGO model roller coasters and made some spectacular creations. The second workshop was "Robotics", in which the boys built and programmed their own interactive LEGO robots. This hands-on experience covered key computing concepts, including coding, repetition in programs, debugging, inputs and outputs, and algorithms.

Year 5 had a fantastic day, bringing their learning to life and having great fun in the process!
