Annalisa Mullaney Head of Learning Support and SENCO
At Moulsford, we embrace neurodiversity as a natural and valuable part of the human experience. We recognise that each child is unique, and neurodivergence—whether it's autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other conditions—can offer strengths as well as challenges. Our goal at Moulsford is to support each child's individual needs while nurturing their strengths and ensuring they feel valued and included.
Our approach is holistic: we work together as a team, including teachers, support staff, and parents, to ensure each child is supported in every aspect of their school life.
This commitment to working in partnership was evidenced on Tuesday of this week at our Neurodiversity Support Network event. This event was hosted by the Learning Support Department to offer parents the opportunity to meet and discuss issues pertinent to them and their families. During the morning, presentations were given by Aimee Laming (Specialist Speech and Language Therapist) and Vicki Rae (Assistant Head Pastoral), covering emotional support for neurodivergent learners and mental health.
The event was really well-attended, and it was wonderful to see so many parents supporting one another. We are grateful for the engagement of this group of parents and look forward to welcoming more families to future events. Our next Neurodiversity Support Network event will be held in the Spring term, so please look out for information about this after the Christmas break.
We also discussed our upcoming ADHD and Autism Peer Support Groups, which are taking place in school over the next fortnight. These groups run each term and are a fantastic way of celebrating and supporting pupils with formal diagnoses throughout the Prep School. These events are highly anticipated by the pupils and are lots of fun!
The Learning Support Department is immensely proud of the support that we are able to offer the Moulsford community. Our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that embracing neurodiversity and working closely with parents, staff, and pupils, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive. We look forward to continuing this important work together.
