In this issue of ‘Word from the Head’, I am once again sharing the platform with Assistant Head Pastoral Vicki Rae, who is writing on Anti-Bullying Week.

Next week is a fantastic opportunity for the Moulsford community to have a dedicated focus on embedding our school values by supporting Anti-Bullying Week with Odd Socks Day on Tuesday 12th November. This provides us with an opportunity for pupils and staff to wear odd socks to show that we are all unique and different, remind each other to be kind to each other and respect each other’s individuality. Our aim is to empower our pupils to not resort to bullying, even when we disagree, and remind all of us to lead by example, both online and offline.

At Moulsford, we teach about positive healthy relationships through a spiral PSHE curriculum, starting in Pre-School and building year on year. For example, in Pre-Prep pupils learn to manage conflicts using the acronym TAG (Tell them how you feel, Ask them to stop, Get help), helping them to resolve disagreements independently. In Year 5, pupils explore the theme of 'Celebrating Differences' in Learning for Life (LFL), learning to appreciate what makes them unique. Year 8 pupils engage in discussions about microaggressions, understanding that it is everyone's responsibility to be active bystanders, challenging even the smallest negative behaviours.

Alongside our dedicated lessons of LFL, our core values of kindness, curiosity and courage are threaded throughout all areas of school life from assemblies to the dining room. This holistic approach fosters an understanding of equality and respect, guiding pupils to grow into empathetic individuals who value diversity and treat others with kindness.
