Focus on kindness and wellbeing
In our weekly assemblies this half term we have been focusing on our values of Kindness and Wellbeing. The children have been learning about how important it is to look after themselves as well as others. As we are in the season of coughs and colds, we thought about how we can try to keep ourselves healthy by maintaining good hygiene. We sang a song to the tune of 'Here we go round the mulberry bush' following the children's suggestions of ways to keep clean such as; 'this is the way we brush our teeth'.
I then asked some children to bravely come and write their name on a board at the front but accidentally gave them a pencil covered in glitter. We thought about how the glitter could be removed without passing it on to someone else. Hands were then duly washed in soap and warm water. Everyone then gave me lots of great suggestions as to when else we should wash our hands such as; before we cook or eat and after we have been to the loo or done a dirty task like wiping our nose. Hopefully bugs will keep to a minimum for the remainder of the season.
