Fair Fraction Feast
Year 4 recently had an exciting Maths lesson where all three classes got together for a 'Fair Fraction Feast'. The boys worked in groups of either 5 or 6 and they were given an amount of food between them. They then had half an hour to work out how to divide each quantity of food equally between the number of boys at their feast! This involved measuring, cutting accurately and dividing some tricky numbers. They also had to demonstrate a knowledge of equivalent fractions. They loved the lesson; particularly the feast they were rewarded with when they had solved the problems they encountered.
