Years 7 and 8 compete in the Regional heats

Two teams from Year 7 and Year 8 competed in the regional heat of the National Reading Quiz on Wednesday. The quiz was for students aged 10 to 14 who love reading and sharing their knowledge with friends. Schools were permitted to enter two teams of four to compete against other teams in Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The winners would then go through to the national finals in June.

The quiz was live with questions being read aloud on screen and there were ten rounds with ten questions each all about well-known books, characters, authors, and a few word-play teasers as well.

It was a really tough quiz played over 2 and a half hours which was won by a team from St Helen and Katharine with a score of 78 points, 9 points ahead of the second placed team.

Well done to all of the boys who took part and competed so well. They all said that they really enjoyed taking part and had a lot of fun.
