A whizz, bang rocketing science day!

On Tuesday, Years 3 to 6 were very fortunate to welcome Peter from Wonderstruck Science Workshops who came in for the day. Peter travels the country providing workshops for schools, and his passion is making Science fun and engaging for pupils, with his favourite topic being Rockets!

All boys in Years 3 to 6 enjoyed an incredible show featuring a lot of bangs, flames and smoke in the morning.  Years 3 and 4 then mixed together in groups and created their own rockets. These rockets were fired using a compressed air "cannon". The furthest flight distance we recorded was 87 metres!

Years 5 and 6 had to wait till the afternoon for their workshop, but it was really worth it! The boys built their own "Rocket Cars" which were powered by water rockets, again using compressed air. The final part of the workshop involved racing them on the astroturf.

Many thanks to Peter for a really inspiring day.
