Remembering those lost
Our Remembrance Service was held in the Sports Hall on Thursday, led by members of Year 7 and 8. Pierre H, William J, Seth C and Toby W spoke to the school about wars and conflicts and why acts of remembrance are so important.
We then welcomed Brigadier Ed Cartwright OBE, formerly of the Parachute Regiment, who was interviewed by his nephews Zac and Arthur W and Teddy C in Year 8. He talked about his career and why he chose to become a member of the Armed Services and spoke very movingly about his experiences of battle and why remembrance is so important to him personally.
There were also contributions by the Junior and Senior Choirs, who sang Bridge Over Troubled Water and The Lord Bless You and Keep You respectively.
The whole Moulsford community joined together for the traditional one-minute’s silence after ‘The Last Post’ and we had prayers from Reverend Rebecca Peters, along with readings delivered by Rufus R and Tim L from Year 7. The service concluded with the hymn Praise my Soul the King of Heaven.
Attended by the whole Prep school, this act of Remembrance clearly struck a chord with both pupils and staff. Our thanks to our guests for joining us and sharing their experiences, to Mr Weeks for the planning and to the Music Department for putting together such a moving and memorable Remembrance Day Service.
