A fun and inspirational visit to Henley

Year 2 had a fabulous trip to the River and Rowing Museum today. When we arrived, we went straight into a room that was all set up for our first painting workshop. We each had a ‘creation station’ and our tutor led us through a Powerpoint presentation for inspiration about the different shapes and colours we could use for our own river paintings. We looked at paintings by famous artists including Monet and Matisse.

Once we had finished our paintings we followed our museum tutor upstairs into the gallery. Here we discussed a very large painting called Landscape of Two Seasons by John Piper, which used to be in the dining room of a cruise ship that travelled to Australia called the SS Oriana. We then created our own abstract pictures using more lines, shape and colours.

After lunch and a quick run around outside, we went to explore the River and Rowing Galleries upstairs and had a go on the ergo rowing machines.

We all had a wonderful time and it was a great end to the week!
