Blasting off on an adventure
Our Year 5 boys blasted off on an exciting school trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester. The adventure rocketed into action with a two-hour coach journey, full of anticipation for the day ahead. Upon arrival, the boys launched straight into "The Great Rocket Challenge." With a budget of £450, each team had to design, build, and shoot their rockets to the moon. It was a race to see who would soar the highest—there were a few close calls with some crash landings, but the boys' spirits remained sky-high!
Next, the group took off on a tour of the solar system in the planetarium. The boys were star-struck as they zoomed past planets, moons, and galaxies, marvelling at the vastness of space and learning some stellar facts. It was an awe-inspiring experience that really made them think about what’s out there in the final frontier.
The day reached new heights when they explored the science behind rockets. Learning about thrust and propulsion, the boys discovered that rocket science isn’t as easy as it looks—but they still had a blast trying! The trip was a cosmic success, and the boys left feeling over the moon, ready for their next big adventure.
