Oxfordshire Primary Schools County Championships

At the weekend, the cross-country season culminated in the annual Oxfordshire Cross Country Meet, held at Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge. We had teams running from Year 3, 4, 5, and 6 and the 28 boys running delivered outstanding performances to claim victory for the second year running. Their determination and resilience were on full display, with several exceptional finishes highlighting their commitment to training and teamwork.

Following this, on Tuesday our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 cross country teams put in outstanding performances to claim victory at The Oratory Annual Greyhound Meet.

The Under 9 team delivered an exceptional result, scoring an impressive 21 points, while the Under 11 team demonstrated their dominance with an even lower score of 12 points. In cross country scoring, the lowest total from the top four runners determines the team ranking, making these results a testament to the depth and consistency of our squads.

Individually, we celebrated four podium finishes. In the junior race, Wilbur L put in a strong performance to take 2nd place, closely followed by Johnny O in 3rd. The Colts race saw an outstanding effort from Oliver B, who clinched 1st place, with Gabriel E finishing just behind in 2nd.

Beyond the podium, we had other remarkable performances, with Harry W and Joshua R narrowly missing out on medals in 4th place and Rafe C finishing strongly in 5th running up an age group. These results highlight the depth of talent in our squad and the commitment of every runner to pushing themselves to the limit. A huge thank you to The Oratory for hosting another fantastic event and for arranging such perfect running conditions!

Cross country is a truly special sport that fosters camaraderie and teamwork, with the boys running as a pack and supporting one another throughout the race.

Huge congratulations to all of our runners for a fantastic season.
