Cross-curricular working
Ahead of their assessments later in the term, Year 5 have been having fun using video gaming and graphic novels as the basis for their learning! Tapping into something the boys all love, Mario Kart is being woven into a variety of subjects to help the boys bring subjects to life.
In English the boys have been creating their own Mario Kart characters and settings through writing, which they will then recreate in Art through drawing and again digitally in ICT.
In Maths they have been using elements from the video game to help them with money, time and weight. In Science the focus has been on adaptation and habitats and at the end of their languages lessons they have even been attempting a few lines of Italian!
We think the pupils have loved this new way of cross-curricular learning.
