Rushall Farm

On Tuesday the Lions and Leopards set forth on an intrepid expedition to Rushall Farm.  Although the forecast was rain and we went fully prepared, the weather was kind to us and there was even a glimmer of sunshine for our lunchtime kickabout.  In the morning we took a tractor ride through the woods, fed (and even cuddled) the chickens and gobbled at the turkeys.  Did you know that turkeys are fair weather friends?  They wouldn’t venture outside in case they got wet!  The boys also found out that sheep are herd animals and run away from marauding small boys but that piglets quite like the taste of Forest School coats.

Lunch, as ever, was extremely popular and after an unleashing of energy in the meadow, the boys settled down to dissect owl pellets and dip in the pond.  One hapless newt was snared in a net as well as numerous water boatmen and dragonfly nymphs.

The trip served to enhance our Science through active learning opportunities and also to cement the Year Two team!
