A focus on different learning styles
No Pens Day Wednesday was held this week with a focus on sharing language and using multi-sensory resources for learning. The aim was to give the boys the opportunity to tap into different learning styles and improve their communication skills.
There were lots of fun activities taking place throughout the school all day:
- Boys were asked to bring in a deck of cards and a coin so that they could learn two magic tricks with Magician Max who ran virtual sessions with all of the boys in Year 3 to 8.
- Mr Sage ran signing sessions to teach the boys the alphabet and also greetings using British Sign Language.
- Year 8 had a virtual careers talk from Christina Cosmo, who is Head of Actuarial at BIMA.
- The boys were encouraged to come to school armed with a joke that they had learnt to then share with their class.
- Boys were also asked to learn a greeting in another language with the aim to see who could use the most different languages.
- Many of the boys’ normal lessons went pen-free too with lots of debate, role play, storytelling and discussion in action.
It was a really great initiative and the boys enjoyed using new skills and thinking outside the box. Pre-Prep will be holding their own No Pens Day next week. We can’t wait to see what fun they have too!
