Summer Term Reading Stars

First Word Millionaire in Pre-Prep

This term we have had a whole bunch of new Reading Stars and Word Millionaires – in fact 21 boys have earned Word Millionaire badges and we have 35 new Reading Stars for the Summer Term.  Social distancing forced me to send badges out in the post rather than having them presented in assembly like usual. Congratulations are due to ALL boys who are enjoying reading, and perhaps even more congratulations are due to boys who don't enjoy reading, but who stick with it anyway and persevere! If any of the boys would like some reading recommendations then do email me.

We have had our first Word Millionaire in Pre Prep - Xander M-C. Please do note three things in Xander's photo:

1. Xander is totally engrossed in his book; 
2. Xander is wearing his shiny new Word Millionaire badge;
3. Xander's cat wants in on the action!

Next term we will be introducing two new badges:

• Word Multi Millionaires for those boys who don't stop at 1 Million Words;
• a 5 Million Word badge for those boys who go totally crazy with their reading and quizzing.

I have to say that we were forced into creating the new 5 Million Word badge in order to recognise that one of the boys has already hit that milestone: Gilby B in Year 4 is waiting for his 5 Million Word badge to be cast at the badgemakers, having read 5,224,646 words (or thereabouts).

And a final plea to any of you who have library books lurking in a dark corner of the bedroom at home - please return them to the Book Returns box outside 4S!
