What it means to be strong
This week Alex from The Self Esteem Team visited Moulsford to deliver an engaging and insightful presentation to the Year 7 and 8 boys. Drawing from his personal experiences, Alex tackled subjects such as debunking the concept of alpha males, navigating peer pressure, and critiquing male representations in the media. He encouraged the boys to contemplate what it means to be strong and consider different ways they can demonstrate strength. His talk was not only passionate but also thought-provoking, and many of the topics explored will be revisited in PSHE lessons going forward.
That afternoon, some of the Year 8 boys reflected on the issues Alex had discussed regarding alpha males and 'leadership'. There was much debate about what constitutes a leader and their role within the classroom or on the football pitch. Boys were challenged to assume roles they don't always feel confident in, and unsurprisingly, they excelled! There was plenty of fun and much to contemplate!
