The beating heart of all thriving communities is the people within it, and Moulsford is no exception. Our very special school forges friendships which will last a lifetime, and I know how much this is valued by both past parents and Old Moles. By way of example, a group of Moulsford parents whose boys left the school roughly fifteen years ago are currently skiing together in Morzine, and there is a fantasy football league of about twenty past parents who meet up for an annual dinner at the end of every season – those in the relegation zone pick up the tab! Witness also the extremely strong take up at the RAC lunch of past parents.
While children and parents may leave Moulsford, they are always members of our community. The same is also true of staff, and this year we will say farewell to two individuals who have given outstanding service to the School.
Jim Hamilton-Smith will be leaving us at the end of the Summer term 2024, after twelve years as Deputy Head-Pastoral. Jim has been outstanding in this role. The care, compassion and empathy that he has consistently shown to so many children, parents and staff over this period has been extraordinary. Jim has been central to the creation of a happy school community, and we are so grateful to him for all that he has given to Moulsford. Jim will be taking a break from teaching to pursue other opportunities.
Claire Harley will also be leaving the School at the end of this term after twenty-five years at Moulsford. As my PA, Claire has been a huge support to me over the past ten years and to Mike Higham (the previous Head) prior to my arrival, as well as to so many others. Claire’s care for the children, parents and her colleagues, her encyclopaedic knowledge of Moulsford life and her extraordinary work ethic will all be sorely missed. Claire (and her husband, Phil) will be relocating to the north of England.
We will ensure that both Jim and Claire are given a first class Moulsford send off, and I will keep you updated once we have confirmed who will continue their wonderful work.
