At Moulsford we value the strength of our community enormously, and also know the huge importance and benefits of reaching out and collaborating with the wider world. These past ten days have been a busy time on this front.  On Thursday 27th April, our Year 8 boys enjoyed a great afternoon at Queen Anne's School in Caversham. The boys were put into mixed teams with the Year 8 girls from Queen Anne's, where they worked together to complete a scavenger hunt around the school site and take part in a Kahoot quiz. The hidden word in the scavenger hunt was 'collaboration', and it was so good to see the children from the two schools working together towards a common goal. Our enormous thanks go to Queen Anne's School for organising and hosting the event so well and to the Moulsford boys who had a great time, and were also excellent ambassadors for the school. We are really looking forward to welcoming the Year 7 Queen Anne’s girls to Moulsford for a similar event after half-term, and hope to take them out on the river.

The following day we were delighted to host Moulsford’s annual Nursery Heads’ Conference with many Nursery and Pre-School heads from the Oxfordshire and Berkshire area joining us, alongside some of our own Early Years staff. We were delighted to welcome Professor Pat Preedy and Claire Robinson (Head of Holme Grange School) to Moulsford, who shared their extensive knowledge and experience on ‘Meaningful Assessment in the Early Years’.  This event gives a great opportunity for Nursery and Pre-School staff to network and socialise, and to share experiences from their own settings.

We are so looking forward to welcoming Oxford Playhouse’s Touring Tent back to Moulsford on 9th & 10th June. Their interactive touring show, Mind the Monsters, will be performed to Years 2 to 6 on the Friday, and to the wider community in two performances (10.00am & 12.30pm) the following day. Saturday’s productions are free to attend, but families do need to book tickets. For more information, please click here, and feel free to share this with family and friends.

It’s a big week for the Royal Family, and there was high excitement in the Pre-Prep on Wednesday as a Puma from RAF Benson swooped in low to take an aerial photo of the boys. This will form part of a collage of pictures from Oxfordshire’s Primary schools, which will then be presented to Charles III to mark his coronation. The prep boys were delighted to be welcomed into school this morning by the King himself, who was waiting for them on the zebra crossing. His Majesty then made his way to the Pre-Prep to join the children for their celebratory coronation lunch, which was a wonderful event, as was the delicious prep school lunch in a bunting-adorned marquee. Thank you so much to our amazing catering staff, who prepared two fantastic meals to mark this historic occasion, which was then followed by a super ‘match tea’ for parents watching the House Triathlon. In planning today’s lunch menu, it was a toss-up between a hog roast and burgers, or a coronation broad bean quiche. We hope the King will forgive us for opting for the former.
