A great display of House spirit
Moulsford’s Sports Day took place last Friday and it was fabulous to welcome parents back for the first time since 2019. Gazebos were set up early in the morning and a coffee van and ice cream van were kept busy throughout the day!
The Pre-Prep boys kicked off proceedings and the front field was full of energetic and excited Bobcats, Tigers, Leopards and Lions all dressed in their colourful t-shirts ready to represent their Houses. The boys took part in individual sprints, sprinting relays, a tennis ball relay, obstacle course and a water sports event! All of the boys did their best for their Houses and we are extremely proud of their team work! They showed lovely camaraderie and supported each other brilliantly. There are definitely some future athletes to watch out for as they move up the school.
The boys in Years 3 to 8 then headed out to the back field and in a new addition to proceedings, each House completed a lap of the field with a chosen soundtrack and coloured flares. The boys were all given a stripe of face paint in House colours and the team spirit was very strong. The crowd were whipped up and remained vocal throughout the afternoon.
There were some fabulous individual performances and it was a bumper year for school records to be broken. Congratulations to Charlie M in Year 3 who broke the vortex record, Henry B in Year 4 who broke the 400m, Arran M in Year 5 who broke the 200m, Guy R in Year 6 who broke the 300m and Henry R in Year 6 who smashed the 100m. For the seniors Josh C in Year 8 broke the 300m and Rory W broke the 800m. Henry B, Henry R and Josh C also took home Victor Ludorum trophies.
The year group relay races followed, and finally the hotly contested tug of war, when competitive spirit and adrenaline reached its climax, with Bering taking the final bow. The overall winner, winning the much coveted House trophy, was also Bering.
Huge thanks go to Mr Orgill, Mr Corbett and Mr MacKinnon for organising such a superb event and all of the members of staff, who play such an important role on the day. It was wonderful to see every boy in the school contributing so wholeheartedly for their House, in a fantastic atmosphere of effort, reward and, above all, cheerful participation.
