8W Become Teachers for the Morning

On Friday morning, 8W boys became teachers and delivered a carousel of activities for all the boys in Year 4. This was to tie in with the Year 4 Humanities project on India. The four activities were: Indian drumming, spice tasting, water filtration and a geography session. The 8W boys learnt a lot about teaching and how to create activities that maintained the attention of the boys. It was a really valuable exercise for them and it was great to see their delivery get better as each group went by.

Year 4 loved the opportunity to do hands-on activities linked to Science, Geography, Music and Food Technology. Boys had a go at creating a filtration system to turn dirty water into clean drinking water thinking about how different apparatus would help trap dirt. Boys created their own raga scale using the boom whackers thinking about rhythm and pitch. They also planned a mini trip around India and decided which would be the best route. Boys also enjoyed a tasty snack looking at a range of different spices and Indian specialities such as saag aloo and tadka dal. Year 4 learnt lots from 8W as well as having a very fun, busy morning!
