Talk from Alastair Eykyn
Year 6 were fortunate enough to enjoy a virtual talk from BT Sport's Alastair Eykyn this week. Ali is currently a rugby commentator and reporter for BT Sport but over the course of his career has also worked for Radio 5 Live and worked across a number of sports, including Olympic and Commonwealth Games, England cricket tours and a number of Wimbledon finals.
Ali spoke to the boys about his life and career, regaling them with a number of anecdotes and offering some very useful pieces of advice - the most important being to follow your passions, as you never know where they might lead you! He also led some of the boys in a mock sports radio show and rounded off with a Q+A session, which kept him on his toes!
We are very grateful to Ali for giving up his time and will be trying some activities to allow the boys in Year 6 to practise their commentary and reporting skills over the next couple of weeks.
