Fantastic day of problem-solving
On Tuesday 4th of February we travelled to Cheltenham College for a maths competition. We set off on our journey at around 8:00 in the morning but as we arrived a little late, we had no time to practise our maths before the competition began and so we were under the pressure of limited time. We had 12 problem solving maths questions and we managed to score highly. It was then on to the second round which was called a cross-number - one group of two had to figure out the across clues and the other two had to figure out the down clues (it ended up being a little bit like a crossword). It came as a surprise when the host announced that we only had two minutes left, but we managed to work quickly. Round three was Countdown where we ended up scoring full marks! We then paused to have lunch. The food was really good and we were allowed to have hot chocolate! After lunch it was round four, which was logic. We finished just four marks off full marks. The fifth round was the relay round, where we would pass questions back and forth, and we ended up scoring quite well again.
In the end, we came 4th, narrowly missing out on the podium. It was an amazing day!
