5H gave a wonderful assembly on Thursday using Star Wars as a message to ‘follow your dreams’. The franchise and legacy which George Lucas created from scratch is indeed extraordinary, and I was able to tell the boys that I saw the first Star Wars film (which I’m told is actually the fourth?) in 1977 when it was released. All the boys did really well, although Sam J stole the show as R2-D2.
All ventures have a beginning and I am delighted to announce the launch of the Moulsford Union, please click here to see the first edition which is published today. This is entirely the initiative of a number of Year 8 boys who were keen to write, edit and publish their own newspaper. The editors have received some advice from the Moulsford media team and have already learnt some valuable life lessons about GDPR, copyright and fact checking. It is great to be able to support such a venture and we are already looking forward to the second edition.
One item not covered in the Moulsford Union but which you may be wondering about are the works currently taking place on bonfire field. These are further archaeological digs and while the unearthing of an Anglo-Saxon treasure trove would provide a great story for the writers of the Moulsford Union, we are less keen on this outcome. The current timetable is for works on the new Pre-Prep building to begin in May.
