MCBO explained
The 2020 Moulsford Boys’ Cake Off (MBCO) got off to a great start this week with some impressive traybake entries flooding in from Years 4, 5 and 6. To set the scene for both parents and boys, we thought it might be useful to remind everyone how the competition works, to hopefully inspire budding chefs for future Cake Offs!
All boys in Years 4, 5 and 6 wishing to take part in MBCO are asked to submit a traybake entry on a given day for their year group. Boys in Years 7 and 8, as well as teaching staff, are invited to judge the entries on taste (break time in the staff room is very busy on these days!).
The judges are invited to choose three different traybakes that they ‘like the look of’ and then choose the best tasting one - in their opinion - to vote for.
Judging takes place, for each participating year group, on the day the traybakes are brought in and all the bakes are numbered so remain anonymous.
Depending on how many boys in each year group have entered, 6-8 boys per year group will go through to the Cupcake round and will be announced in assembly the week beginning 3rd February.
The Cupcake round is judged in the same way as the Traybake round and will take place after half term, on the dates as published in the school calendar.
Finally, three participants in each year group will go through to the Showstopper Round, the grand finale of which takes place as part of Moulsford's Got Talent in the Summer term.
Good luck to all our 2020 MCBO entrants – your traybakes were delicious!
