UKMT Team Maths Challenge

A team of four Year 8 boys - Joe R, Oscar B-N, Hylton H and Antonio P-Q - went to Horris Hill to take part in the annual Regional Final of the UKMT Team Maths Challenge for Year 8 and Year 9 pupils. The boys weren’t victorious but came a very impressive 5^th out of 31 teams, our highest placing for a number of years and, we think, the highest placing for a team of just Year 8 pupils.  They all said they had enjoyed the day which is, obviously, the most important thing! There were four rounds spread over the day, the favourite and most memorable being the relay. This tested mathematical and athletic ability as members of each team had to run, but tackling was forbidden, in a bid to try and complete questions not only correctly but in the fastest time.
