Two Moulsford teams in action

Last weekend, Moulsford had the pleasure of hosting the IAPS Football Festival, welcoming ten schools to our grounds for a thrilling regional qualifier. With two groups and fierce competition across four impeccably prepared pitches, thanks to our outstanding grounds team, it was a day of fantastic football.

Moulsford A and B teams both entered the tournament, with the A team making it through to the main competition and the B team participating in the Plate competition after some tough group games. The tournament’s knockout format proved intense, with short matches, golden goal extra-time, and penalties heightening the drama.

The Moulsford A team had a spectacular run. After a tense penalty shootout win against group winners Abingdon, they powered past Wetherby Prep thanks to a superb goal by Albie T. In the final against Elstree, the game ended 0-0, but a last-minute penalty conceded saw the A team finish as runners-up. However, the team’s strong performance earned them a place in the National Finals in November.

Meanwhile, the Moulsford B team impressed in the Plate competition, making it all the way to the final against St George's, Windsor. In a gripping match, both teams found the net, and it all came down to penalties. With Moulsford scoring all three, Archie M emerged as the hero, saving the final spot-kick to secure the trophy!

A big thank you goes out to all the pupils, parents, and staff for their contributions in making this event truly special. Enormous thanks to our fantastic catering team, who kept everyone energised with bacon sandwiches, pastries, and hot drinks. We are also proud to have raised £323.60 for the wonderful charity, Mary’s Meals.
