The sixty Year 7 & 8 boys on the 2024 South Africa rugby tour returned to school full of tales of adventure from the southern hemisphere. This was an epic trip and well done to all the tourists for taking full advantage of the wonderful opportunities which came their way. I’ve spoken to many boys this week who have delighted in giving me their highlights, which, amongst others, include ziplining, Table Mountain, the rugby and the safari. However, many have highlighted the day they spent on Middlepos Farm with Inspire Children and Youth, the charity the tour supported.
As you’ll know the Moulsford community raised a staggering £100,000 for this outstanding organisation, with much of this sum being raised by the sixty tourists themselves. It was so powerful for our boys to meet the children and families who will benefit from their fundraising, and to see first-hand how their actions will directly affect the lives of others. Thank you to all those families who have given so generously to such a great cause, and we will keep you informed of the plans Inspire have for this amazing sum. The picture above encapsulates what was clearly a very special day, and a particularly large thank you goes to Zac W who created the fabulous banner.
We are very grateful for the support that so many travelling parents gave, while they followed the tour in South Africa. Overseeing the smooth operation of such a large travelling tour of young boys is complex, and the eight Moulsford staff, led by Jake Albon, did an amazing job. They had various challenges thrown at them, not least the necessity for three of the party (two staff and a Year 8 boy) to remain in Cape Town for an additional four days, due to illness, after the others flew home. It was very special to welcome these three back to Moulsford on Tuesday morning… even if their luggage had only made it as far as Johannesburg. Thank you again to the tour staff for the wonderful care that they gave all the boys on this fabulous trip.
