Board Games and Puzzles

On Thursday morning, 6O had us all thinking about Board Games and Puzzles and how important they are in encouraging families to spend more time together. The boys spoke with confidence; projecting their voices to all in attendance. In their assembly they shared the history of Board Games and Puzzles dating back to the Ancient Greek, Egyptians and Romans.  We were then treated to some amazing facts about different games including how in Chess, the queen became the most powerful piece due to Queen Isabella of Spain, how the Monopoly figures were designed from a charm bracelet and how the phrase 'back to square one' came from the game Snakes and Ladders.

The boys informed us of the importance of games and puzzles in our learning, boosting maths skills, removing fears and anxieties while solving problems and fostering perseverance, patience and concentration. The assembly was rounded off with a quiz in which the Moulsford audience proved how much they had learned during it. Now it is time for all to get gaming (with board games of course).
