Managing your Inner Chimp
4S were really inspired by Mrs Squire's assembly on the 'self-gratification monkey' and, after discussing this further during their LFL lesson, they decided to continue this theme for their assembly too. Mrs Symonds shared with her class the book 'My Hidden Chimp' by Professor Steve Peters and they used this to explore the theme further for their assembly. The boys learnt a huge amount and they explained to the school how their emotions, thinking and behaviour can be both understood and managed. We all learnt the importance of managing our 'inner chimp' and why this is sometimes really hard to do! They performed beautifully for the whole school and their parents and gave us all a reminder about how we can choose and try to be better people.
