What a wonderful time we have had celebrating World Book Week across the school. The huge benefit that comes from reading is a crucial message to give to the boys, and it becomes extremely powerful when it is delivered by the whole community. Thank you to children, parents and staff for the parts that you have all played in this very special week.
There have been so many highlights of the week, culminating in the boys’ and staff’s super costumes on Thursday. MC Grammar was a major success and thank you to Miss Goodwin, in Year 2, for booking such an entertaining, fun and educational speaker. Who would have thought syntax could be so much fun, with everyone from Pre-School to Year 6 getting in on the act! Please click here for a short video of what MC Grammar, the boys and staff got up to. This was our most viewed story ever on Moulsford Instagram!
The extended Prep school assembly on Thursday was an extravaganza, and thank you to the Year 8 boys who did an amazing job at delivering and compering what was in effect a Variety Show, with a singing performance from Edward P and a declamation from Edward G, and a cameo performance from Captain Accelerated Reader a.k.a. Seb R-F. We closed the assembly with a video collage of Extreme Reading amongst the Moulsford community.
The Pre-Prep have been especially busy this week, and as well as hosting MC Grammar, have had many other visitors. Giles Andreae, a former Moulsford parent, is also an author and illustrator and it was super to welcome him back to Moulsford. The children so enjoyed listening to him read from his book ‘The Pirate Dinosaur’! Thank you also to Debi Beaumont, a current Moulsford parent, illustrator and author who very kindly visited the Pre-Prep and read about Australian animals. We are also extremely grateful to the thirty Pre-Prep parents who have supported the Pre-Prep boys with their reading this week under the supervision of the Moulsford staff, and thank you also to our parent readers who listen to the boys read on an ongoing basis.
A successful, fun and productive World Book Week requires a great deal of planning and preparation, and a very large thank you to Richard Martin, our outstanding Head of English, Carol Rees, our school librarian, and the supporting English team for all their hard work.
