Studying the Ancient Greeks
The Year 3 boys delved further in the history of the Ancient Greeks on Monday with a visit to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. The boys were able to explore the fascinating artefacts housed in the museum and were even lucky enough to handle some objects dating back to Ancient Greeks. The boys also learnt more about the famous landscape painting that the museum has on display, completing a workshop delving into what some of the famous pieces represented.
The boys were a credit to school and really seemed to enjoy looking back through history. Well done boys!
The boys then had an Ancient Greek themed day at Forest School. As well as the usual den making, exploring and team building activities, the boys made ‘laurel crowns’ and Olympic medals out of sawn branches. The kitchen kindly provided a delicious Greek inspired lunch with hummus, pitta bread, Greek salad and yoghurt. Thanks again to Mr Squire and Mrs Thatcher for a wonderful day.
