Writing environmental stories
Year 4 spent the morning with author Emma Beswetherick who is known for writing 'The Playdate Adventures' series. Emma is passionate about creating stories with environmental themes, which has been perfect for our topic this term. Boys were able to use their knowledge of environmental factors to plan their own environmental adventure story under Emma's guidance. After they had planned a story together, they pitched their idea to Emma and the rest of Year 4. They came up with some incredible ideas and we are planning to write these stories in our English lessons. The boys were thoroughly engaged all morning and enjoyed asking her questions such as 'What is it like to be an author? How many books will be in this series? What would your next series be about?' Boys were shocked to hear the editing process of a book lasts nearly a year! One of our boys had his quote chosen by Emma in her brand new book 'The Honeybee Treasure Hunt' that will be out next week and he is now the proud owner of the first copy!
