This time last year, we made the move to virtual Moulsford at very short notice for the best part of the Spring term 2021. What a difference a year makes, and thank goodness we can start 2022 with the boys back at school after the Christmas break.
We’ve had a very positive start to the term, and it’s been great to see the boys get straight back into (mostly) normal school life, both in the classroom, on the extra-curricular front and on the games pitches. Thank you again to the Year 7 and 8 boys who are wearing face coverings in lessons and communal areas. We appreciate that this is far from ideal for them, and we remain very impressed by their sensible and good-natured approach to this measure.
Construction of the new Pre-Prep continues to take shape at pace, with the screed being laid on the floor, although Family B-G were grateful that the builders had a festive break between Christmas and New Year. The Pre-Prep staff had an excellent tour of the site this week and are full of excitement for what lies ahead for Pre-Prep boys.
Sustainability is a key feature of the building and when I visited the site this week, my tour focussed on these aspects of the new project. The latest technology allows for the extensive use of Heat Exchangers, Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar Panels, Solar Velux windows and Rainwater Harvesting, which together will significantly contribute to minimising the school’s carbon footprint. The building is also very well insulated. I am delighted to report that the new Pre-Prep remains on schedule for a September 2022 opening.
