Brecon Beacons Adventure
In slightly murky conditions, we set off for Wales with 53 excited boys and 5 staff who were all looking forward to an exciting week of fun activities in the Brecon Beacons. After eating our lunch at the centre, the boys then set off for their first activity. Some intrepid mountain-bikers set off with former world Mountain-bike champion Mr Dunsby and Mrs Thatcher and the rest of the group went canoeing with Team Symonds and Mr Weeks. Some amusing stories came back to our accommodation at Baskerville Hall with Mr Dunsby arriving a little later to tell his stories.
Tuesday saw some boys go caving and gorge walking, which was the highlight for many, including Mr Symonds who took on the challenge of the Letterbox! The remaining boys were at the centre doing a variety of Team Challenges and High Ropes activities. At the end of the day all the staff were delighted with how the boys had taken on the activities and pushed themselves outside of their comfort zone.
Wednesday was our adventure up Pen Y Fan, which is the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons. It is excursions like this where you see the very best of Moulsford boys as boys supported each other to ensure everybody made it to the top! There were some stunning views, however, the highlight for some was the visit to the ice-cream shop afterwards (including the shop-keeper!)
Thursday was a reverse of Tuesday and similar results ensued with lots of people working hard for each other and challenging their own comfort zones. We ended the day with lots of football, cricket and chatting!
Our final activity on Friday morning was Go-Kart building for most groups with the last remaining group going mountain-biking. The go-karting was hilarious and taught the boys a lot about working together to achieve results.
All in all, it was a fabulous week with some of the highlights captured in this video from Mr Weeks.
