Wednesday was the day of Edward Bush’s funeral. The family arranged the most moving service which completely captured the essence of Edward, at the lovely and peaceful village church in Hambleden. Edward’s brothers, Harry and James both showed maturity beyond their years with James reading beautifully and Harry talking about his brother with the most extraordinary confidence, poise and elegance. There were several hundred in the congregation both in and outside the church.
The Bush family were surrounded by friends and family, with a very high turnout from the Moulsford community. Virtually all boys from Edward’s Moulsford year group were present, all wearing their Leavers’ ties, together with many other Old Moles from different years. They were accompanied by numerous past and current parents, as well as twenty staff and three Governors, including the Chairman. After the service, all were invited back to Turville Heath for a reception in the early evening sun, and while it was a desperately sad day, there was a wonderfully supportive atmosphere for the Bush family, who could not have organised a better send off for Edward.
We were very sad not to be able to welcome parents to Sports Day today, one of the features of which was the great support and encouragement shown by the boys for each other. It was a fantastic day, and we were blessed by good weather throughout. We have taken numerous photos which are currently being edited and will shortly be posted for parents and boys to see. The picture above is from 2018 Sports Day and shows Edward Bush (second from right) and Drake having just won the Tug of War.
