This will have been a very difficult week for many in the country with the news that the easing of Covid restrictions has been delayed, and especially tough for businesses, which have not been able to fully re-open. Equally I know it will be extremely disappointing for parents who had been looking forward to the end of term events at Moulsford, as well as our new starters for September who were due to have their taster days with us on Thursday 24th June.
We’re very aware that all parents have had very restricted access to the school since March 2020, and that families who joined the community from September 2019 onwards have yet to experience the warmth and strength of the Moulsford community in person across a whole school year. It is indeed a strange situation, and one which we are very much looking forward to rectifying in 2021/22. Thank you, as ever, for your continued patience and understanding of the situation we all find ourselves in.
While you’re unable to join us, please be assured that the end of term events for the boys will be taking place largely as normal. We’re really looking forward to Sports Day, which I have no doubt will be as competitive as ever, but most importantly inclusive for all the boys.
Last Summer because of the stringent restrictions, we held individual Prize Giving ceremonies for the Pre-Prep and for each individual year group. This was a model which actually worked really well as it allowed us to recognise every boy in the school, in a way that it is not possible to do in a whole school Prize Giving due to the time restrictions of such events. We will be reverting to individual Prize Givings again for this year, but will also have an outdoor whole school assembly to bring everyone together prior to the end of term. With all events, we will keep you as in touch as we can through social media and the website.
The Year 8s spent a very wet night at Forest School on Thursday, and in the early hours of Friday learnt the value of a well-constructed rainproof shelter. Thank you to the staff who camped in the woods with them in filthy conditions. While the boys were very tired today, their mood was lifted by the excellent news that all of them have passed their Common Entrance exams to their senior schools. This has been a particularly difficult year for those studying for exams and the boys deserve great praise for their focus and application throughout the year, whether virtual or in class. Well done and congratulations to all the boys in Year 8!
