Year 6 get innovative
Upon returning to school, several departments got together and decided to encourage the boys from Year 6 to embark upon a project called the Genius Hour. This concept originated from Google who allow their employees to investigate anything they want on one day of their working week. This is where ideas such as GMail originated from. The boys were encouraged to investigate an area of their choosing and develop their overall understanding. Several of the boys presented their ideas to their classmates and a few spoke to Mr Beardmore-Gray. Anti-bullying campaigns, coding lessons, photography competitions and a desire to save endangered species were just some of the projects we were presented with. On the final day of term, the boys and staff talked about what went well and also where the boys could take their projects in the future.
