WalkWithMe 2019 and the 10 mile Little WalkWithMe take place on Sunday 19th May. The ‘big’ walk will start and finish in the grounds of Moulsford. The ‘little’ walk will begin at Huntercombe Golf Club, Nuffield and finish at Moulsford. Both walks raise funds for two wonderful charities, Young Minds and Maggie's Cancer Care Centre in Oxford. While these events are independently run, the School is delighted and proud to act as a host and venue to the organisers, participants, supporters and charities.

Many Moulsford boys will take part in Little WalkWithMe, and we look forward to welcoming both them and other walkers at the finish line later in the day. Boys in Year 7 and below will also have exams or assessments starting on Monday. A Year 5 boy was heard to ask his mother whether he should take his science revision on the walk with him? While the attitude and commitment to academia is commendable, the answer to this is very firmly “No!”

Besides raising funds for very worthwhile causes, events such as Little WalkWithMe have many other spin-off benefits which help us to stay fresh, among them: the opportunity to take a break from everyday routine and immerse oneself in the moment; exercise; camaraderie. The cumulative benefits of regular involvement in extra-curricular activities can be difficult to benchmark, and so it was very interesting to read research published by Cambridge University in March of the benefit of sport to academic performance. Click here to read the findings.
