Head's Blog: Taking Every Opportunity

Meet Minnow the cocker spaniel, the latest addition to both the B-G household and the Moulsford community. Minnow is adventurous, inquisitive, full of energy and willing to give anything a go, characteristics which she shares with many Moulsford boys. I often think that when boys join the school, like puppies, they too enter a whole new world. As teachers, we are in the privileged position of guiding boys both pastorally and academically through this land of opportunity. The Moulsford extracurricular programme is extremely broad and parents will have recently received the After School Activities for the Prep School and Pre-Prep for the Summer term. Please note that you should complete choices for your boys by midnight on Monday 18th March.

I know that given the chance, Minnow would take full advantage of the programme, and would also be keen to add a couple of clubs of her own such as “chewing”, which she is proving particularly adept at. As youngsters starting out, I’m sure that both she and Moulsford boys would draw inspiration from the latest senior school scholarship results for Year 8 boys which came in from Abingdon and Magdalen College School earlier this week:

  • Sam C - Academic Scholarship to Abingdon
  • Harry M – Academic Scholarship to Abingdon
  • Henry C – Design Technology Scholarship to Abingdon
  • Lachlan A - Academic Exhibition to Magdalen College School

Well done to all the boys who have sat scholarship exams this year. The experience of going through this academic journey is extremely valuable in itself, regardless of the end outcome.
