Focus on Natural Resources
One of the topics in Year 5 Humanities this term is looking at the natural resources in Britain. We have been studying renewable power sources and recently carried out an experiment on the school grounds. The boys were deciding where the best place in the school was to place a solar panel array and wind turbine.
Using a solar panel connected to a volt meter and a bottle of bubble mixture to measure wind direction and strength, the boys concluded that the 1st XI cricket pitch was the perfect location for both. We decided that although this might make sense for light and wind levels, Mr Griffiths and Mr Noble might have issues with this! This reflects issues with location of renewables in the wider community.
