A great start to the cricket season
1st XI
The 1st XI enjoyed an excellent tour to Somerset. We were very lucky with overhead conditions and managed to get two good games of cricket in against Taunton Prep and Kings Hall, emerging victorious on both occasions. Standout performances included 82 not out from captain Bertie WG and 5 wickets from Jake BG against Taunton, but the all round team ethic was very evident throughout and every one of the 12 man squad contributed well. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Somerset County Cricket Club, despite sadly not getting to see any live cricket and their general representation of the school over the trip was really impressive.
Colts
The U11A Cricket team travelled to Somerset last weekend to play Taunton Prep and King’s Hall in their pre-season cricket tour. The first game was Taunton Prep on the Friday afternoon which proved to be a very competitive game. Moulsford started in the field and bowled with a decent line and length, making it hard for the Taunton batsmen to score. Taunton’s quick bowling attack proved a challenging task for Moulsford’s batting line up. A great game of cricket with Moulsford coming out on top with 4 overs remaining.
On Saturday morning the boys went for a swim before making their way to watch Somerset vs Worcestershire at the County Cricket Ground. Unfortunately, rain meant that the boys didn’t see any cricket, however it was a lovely place to visit and some of the boys managed to leave with Marcus Trescothick’s autograph.
On Saturday afternoon the boys travelled to King’s Hall where, after lunch, Moulsford batted first and there were some strong performances throughout. The touring side posted a total of 164 for our hosts to chase down. A strong fielding display kept the run rate down with King’s Hall finishing on 128 for 2.
The tour was a great experience and a huge thank you to our hosts who look after us fantastically well.
