Zeb B on being Head Boy…

As my 6-year journey at Moulsford School enters its final phase, I am able to reflect on how invaluable the whole process has been to me not only academically, but also personally; from manners and respect to empathy and kindness, Moulsford truly does equip you with everything you need on the path to becoming someone nice to be around.

Academically speaking, the staggering passion each and every one of the teachers exhibits for their various different subjects directly reflects just how much the students love their lessons. Personally, I have most enjoyed; History, TPR (RS for junior boys) and ICT. History and TPR have both skilfully made me actively enjoy writing essays, which is something I would not have thought possible before. ICT has made me question everyday objects and endeavour to understand how exactly they work, which even led me to build my own computer back in Year 6. Many of my Form and Subject-based teachers over the years have unequivocally changed me (and my classmates) for the better.

In spite of the fact that I never managed to make a 1st or 2nd team in any of the four main sports Moulsford offers, I have still enjoyed every minute of my being out on the games fields. The enthusiasm the Games staff display brings out the teamwork in each player and helps drive the appetite for victory. Even though many boys are competitive in their sport, never once have I seen that lead to unsportsmanlike behaviour or disrespect. The four main sports are Football, Rugby, Cricket and Hockey-With Tennis and Basketball are two of the many other sports that are offered in activities and PE sessions. In the second half-term after Christmas, boys are given the choice between another half-term of Football or Hockey.

Music is also a huge part of life at Moulsford. Not only are music lessons for innumerable amounts of instruments on offer, but Senior and Junior choirs are set up for Tuesday Mornings and Thursday Afternoons. Musicians are given the opportunity to perform at Concerts such as the Musical Soiree and the Summer Concert. The Friday Showcase is also an excellent resource for those who want to perform in an unpressured and calm environment.

Moulsford would not be Moulsford if it were not for the impossibly large amount of after-school activities available. From Paddleboarding and Kayaking to Board Games with Mr Beardmore-Gray -there has always been at least one activity that really caught my eye. It is with these incredible activities on offer that my mind is drawn to how fortunate we are at Moulsford to have such unimaginable opportunities on offer every day of the week.

Overall, the lessons I have learned and the friendships I have made will surely stick with me forever, and I am truly grateful I have made this wonderful journey. Some of the best memories of my life have been made at Moulsford and I am genuinely honoured to have been appointed Head Boy.
