Welcome from Barnaby W
When I first arrived at Moulsford, in Year 3, I was truly looking forward to seeing what the five years ahead of me would look like. My new school seemed a huge step up from my last, amazing me with the amount of opportunities and the great facilities that Moulsford equipped you with. What impressed me the most was how welcoming and encouraging the teachers here at Moulsford were, and it didn't take long before I realised how special this place was.
When joining Moulsford I really looked forward to the sport; and when I saw what was on offer I knew I would thrive in something I love. Even if you don’t like the main sports provided by Moulsford’s curriculum such as Football, Cricket, Hockey and my personal favourite Rugby, there is still something for everyone such as archery or swimming. This is what makes Moulsford so great. What I also realised throughout my sports journey, is that the staff always pushed me and my team to the limit, to make us the best version of ourselves. This support from the staff eventually gave me the opportunity to be awarded Captain of rugby in my final year, which has been a privilege; but as I emphasised earlier, if sport is not something for you, everyone is still involved in fun events like House matches. It’s always entertaining to be competing against your friends and peers. This is also down to the dedication of the sports staff who have always worked hard putting on sporting events like these and organising fixtures against other schools. The staff has always been very friendly and encouraging, but realistic at the same time. This is what has made Moulsford sports teams so successful during my time at Moulsford.
Within the classroom, Moulsford also provides great teaching which prepares you very well for your future school. These academic teachers are also very helpful, encouraging and supportive which are great traits to have within a classroom. Teachers at Moulsford also try to teach in unique and interactive ways, to engage everyone to enjoy learning, and examples of this are red blocks (treats from Mr English). I think everyone in Year 7 and 8 can agree it is a great bribe to work hard in Science. What I also appreciate about the teaching at Moulsford, is that the community and environment is always very friendly and is a good, safe place to learn.
Outside of the curriculum, after school activities are a great way to enjoy even more of Moulsford. These activities consist of a variety of things such as paddle boarding on the river or capture the flag on the top field. These activities make me think how lucky I am to be able to go to school here and lots of people love doing these extracurricular hobbies. Other opportunities like music lessons are also available and even I played an instrument for a while (although I wasn’t very good)!
In the last year, Mr Weeks has also put on ‘High Performance Lunchtime Talks’, which are very inspirational and again show how many things Moulsford has to offer.
As my Moulsford journey concludes into its final term, I have truly loved my time; and I am grateful for all the life lessons it has taught me.
