Head Boy

Alex K, Spring Term 2024 Head Boy

When I first came back to England from Australia I was quiet and quite shy.  As I joined the school I was very lucky to have John S (Autumn Term Head Boy) as my buddy who helped me pick up courage and meet new people.  He showed me the Moulsford way and I have loved every minute of my time here.

One of my favourite things about Moulsford is the sport.  My sporting journey at Moulsford has been an amazing endeavour with many highs and some tough lows that has taught me that not everything goes your way.  Beating tough sides is great but giving your all is more important.  A couple of weeks ago we played the Dragon - one of the biggest physical challenges on our rugby fixture list.  It was the clash of two very strong teams.  We went full out from the very start to end and just managed to scrape a 15-10 win with some exceptional play all round.  The most important thing to me however is that we played as a team and never gave up, and that is what I value about Moulsford sport.  Moulsford sport includes everyone and we all end up playing with smiles on our faces and determination in our eyes.

Activities at Moulsford hold some of the best memories; which I'm sure we will take with us.   We are so fortunate to have the Thames on our doorstep, whether you want to cool off in the hot weather or have naval battles on paddleboards, the river is the perfect place for all years.  Moulsford has given me so many different opportunities from activities such as cooking, hockey and climbing which everybody likes and enjoys.

Supporting charities is a long-standing tradition here at Moulsford, especially with the South Africa rugby tour coming up. All the students who are going to South Africa have been raising money, which will help the charity Inspire to improve the lives of many children in Africa. The South Africa tour has always been a highlight of the year but sadly the last few tours couldn’t take place due to Covid.  I have also got involved in other fundraising events that school runs like the Cake Off, the Moulsford Mudder, Moulsford’s Got Talent and of course the head shave for cancer research last year which I did with some friends.

I am very grateful to have become Head Boy and I am looking forward to the rest of my time here.  Moulsford has made me who I am today and I am forever grateful for everything the teachers have done for me as well as others around me.  Moulsford helps people thrive and bring out the real you.
