It’s very rare that we curtail a games session at Moulsford, but Wednesday’s filthy weather forced us to abandon Years 5 to 8 House Matches after 35 minutes of play. Torrential rain coincided with kick-off, and well done to the boys for playing through the miserable conditions to this point. Thank you to those parents who braved the elements to support your boys, and to the staff refereeing the games. House Matches have been rescheduled to 6th and 10th February, and further information will follow.
We hope for better weather on Saturday 25th February from 10.00am to 1.00pm for the Parents (& Teachers!) 5-a-side football Tournament, raising money for local charities. So far, there are six teams that have expressed an interest in playing. There is still time to enter a team and please indicate your interest using this Google form, including Team Name, Team Captain and Team Members. Teams should consist of 5-a-side and unlimited subs. The suggested cost of entry: £100 per team. Further details will follow.
Some parents will be aware that Moulsford is a member of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS). I am Chair of our IAPS Area association, which consists of 90 prep schools in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire. On Thursday evening, the thirteen Heads who make up our committee met at The Manor, courtesy of the Head Alastair Thomas, followed by an excellent dinner. This is a great forum in which to share ideas across the sector, and to plan and deliver training for teachers, aspiring Heads and serving Heads. Initiatives include holding an Area association conference for 200+ teachers in April, leadership training for IAPS staff who are considering taking on senior positions in schools, and access to coaching (and coaching qualifications) for senior leaders.
This week has brought us dark mornings and plenty of rain. However, it is great to see the children so cheery when they arrive in school, and 5N’s excellent Form Assembly reminded us of the many reasons to stay positive in January e.g. with each day that passes, the days are getting longer and we are closer to the summer solstice! 5N’s video, which they showed at the end of their assembly, should cheer you up if you’re feeling blue!
